Pre-competitive Initiative

Build resilient coffee, together

Coffee Resilience Network is a pre-competitive initiative where coffee companies and project developers share anonymized biochar field results and pool demand to guarantee applied biochar in their own supply chains.

Tier 1: Base AMC

  • Guarantee biochar purchases ($35-40/ton)
  • Applied to YOUR coffee farms (insetting)
  • Claim "regenerative coffee"
  • Producers retain carbon credits

Membership Fee:

$500k

Tier 2: + Removals

  • Everything in Tier 1, PLUS
  • Purchase carbon removal credits separately
  • Count removals in Scope 3 inventory
  • Negotiated rate per tCO₂e

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about the Coffee Resilience Network

- Base AMC: Buy biochar for your farms and claim "regenerative coffee" / insetting from practice change - Purchase Removals: Buy carbon credits separately and count as Scope 3 removals in your inventory - Project Sponsor ($1M+/year): Fund entire projects and claim removal + reduction + avoidance credits

Removal credits: Carbon sequestered in biochar (durable storage >100 years) Reduction credits: Emissions reduced through lower fertilizer use, improved yields Avoidance credits: Emissions prevented by converting waste biomass (instead of rotting/burning) Only project sponsors (Tier 3) can claim all three types. Tier 2 can purchase removal credits only. Tier 1 makes no carbon credit claims (producers sell credits separately).

Producers retain and monetize carbon credits unless buyers purchase them separately (Tier 2) or sponsor entire projects (Tier 3).

Base AMC tier is insetting (practice change in your supply chain). If you purchase removal credits separately, those can offset Scope 3 emissions.

You're deploying biochar in YOUR supply chain first. Carbon credit purchase is optional. Traditional offsetting funds projects elsewhere.

Yes. Many members start with Base AMC to test biochar performance, then add credit purchases once benefits are demonstrated in their farms.

International Biochar Initiative acts as neutral host; members access the anonymized dataset; select insights are public annually.

Multi-year purchase guarantees unlock finance, scale supply, and push costs down.
